Blessing In Disguise

I used to work at a salon that I was expected to do hair at a very fast pace. It was always a challenge for me because I'm a perfectionist. I couldn't achieve perfection with peoples hair at the pace they wanted me to go. So I always went over time for my hair services, because I couldn't do hair anything less than my best. And that took time.

My boss called me in one day and broke the news to me. She said she had to let me go because I was too slow. I knew that the cuts were cheap and time was money and that they couldn't profit from me if I was too slow. So I totally got it, but it really hurt.

Even though I totally understood, I had never been fired before in my life. I sat in my car and cried. It made me feel so inadequate. I didn't have much confidence to begin with back then and this made it worse.

My sister is a hairstylist as well. She would always throughout the years try to convince me to booth rent like she did.

She would tell me all the benefits to it but I never thought I could do it. I thought it was too big for me, so I always said no. So I prayed and asked God if He would help me find another job.

The first place I applied to I ended up getting the job. And it just "so happened" to be booth renting. It's where I work now (Creative Design).  And it has been the absolute best job I have ever had in my life, for so many reasons.

Everyone that works here are Christians, there is never ever drama, gossip, etc here..., I'm my own boss, I can create my schedule however I want, take as long as I want with all my services, take a vacation or time off here or there whenever I want,  I can work as late or as early as I want, etc...all because I booth rent/ self employed.

When I was a single Mom, booth renting was perfect for my girls and I. I could be extremely flexible so I could accommodate their needs very easily. The list actually goes on and on of all the benefits of working here. This place has been a dream come true. I love my job!

I always say if I ever won the lottery I would still want to work here. I love it here and love doing hair!

But if I didn't get fired from that other job, I wouldn't be working here. I would have stayed at that other job forever probably if I didn't get fired.

I was definitely a girl that was committed to where I was working and kinda stuck and didn't move from the familiar because beyond that scared me. I didn't think I was good enough to move to bigger challenges.

Getting fired was most definitely a blessing in disguise! And I'm still so thankful everyday that that happened and I work here. So many times after work I'll say to the Lord, "Thank you so much for this job! I love it here!"

Sometimes things are so painful in life. I felt so awful when I got let go from that job. But I didn't know that God had something better in store for my family and I. That there was going to be a blessing after the pain. He had a bigger plan and was looking at the bigger picture for us.

I've realized that sometimes we have to go through pain to get to the thing that God has specifically planned for us. It's so hard, and the pain is still awful, but I know in the end, God makes it all good!

(Romans 8:28)
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

God Keeps His Word

I went to bible study tonight and we're going through the book of Joshua. It shows how God kept His promise to lead the Isrealites into the promise land.

Its so encouraging and such a great reminder that we can trust God, and everything that He says, without question. This is such a great feeling.

I know someone that said either yes, no, or maybe, and stuck to whatever he said. I remember being very impressed by that because not everyone, especially someone his age (19), would be so honorable to his word.

When he said yes, no matter what obstacle came his way to challenge him to change that, he would still keep his word regardless. There was so much comfort in that. I loved it!

So if he said maybe or no i knew what to expect and there was comfort in that too. It was just nice to receive someone keeping with what they said.

(Psalm 15:4)
"...who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
and does not change their mind;"

I've experienced the opposite with people as well. One person in particular would so many times agree to important things but not follow through. I came to realize that whatever this person said, i couldn't always depend on it. I learned very quickly that I couldn't always trust this person at their word. It was awful.

"Like clouds and wind without rain
is one who boasts of gifts never given."

(Proverbs 25:14)

"Like a broken tooth or a lame foot
is reliance on the unfaithful in a time of trouble."
(Proverbs 25:19)

Now I know I've done this too, I'm not perfect. But the first guy I loved that I could depend on him. And his example I'll always remember and want to emulate.

I felt on the receiving end what it was like both ways, and I strive to be like the guy who kept his word.

I'm so glad we have a God that doesn't lie but keeps His word at all times. There's extreme comfort in that. Sometimes we battle trusting Him, I'm not sure why we battle this, but it's impossible for God to lie. Its not His nature.

"Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure."
(Hebrews 6:18-19)

Every single promise in the Bible God speaks of, He will 100% keep. What a tremendous comfort. So why do i sometimes worry? Not sure, good question.

So thankful God is dependable and that He will always keep His word!
